Ecclesiastes 12:13

Ecclesiastes 12:13
“Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.”

This verse comes at the very end of the book of Ecclesiastes ~ the same book of the Bible from which, “to everything there is a season…” comes from. In one verse at the beginning of the book (1:3) the writer basically asks what this whole life is all about? Throughout the book, he says repeatedly, “everything is meaningless.” However, this statement often comes in response to looking for meaning in the things of this earth. Emptiness will always remain if we think we will find fulfillment in our jobs, our homes, our friends, our kids or activities…or even in our church/ministry involvements. We may find enjoyment for a while, but our purpose on this earth is to live in such a way as to bring glory to God knowing HE is God and everyone ultimately answers to Him.
